form the stock pile. The Play
You can get free Rummy download to play the game. The card game
Rummy can be played with head to head, with 2 people and with up to
8 people in number. If there are 2 players in the game then each
player is dealt 10 cards. Seven cards are dealt to each player if
the players are three in numbers and 7 cards if the players are more
than 3. The dealer shuffles the cards many times and then dealt to
each player. The remaining cards are placed face down on the centre
of the table to form the stock pile. To win the game Rummy, the
objective of each player is to earn more points than his/her
opponents. The game’s main strategy is to form melds with minimum
deadwood counts. Melds can be formed by two types:
- By forming sets of three or four cards in the consecutive
order from the same rank like kkkk.
- Or by forming runs of three or four cards in progression, of
the same suit like, 3456.
The remaining cards which are not used in forming melds are called
deadwood cards and the sum of all these cards are known as
deadwood counts. The deadwood counts of a player should be less
than or equal to 10 to lay off the cards on the table.
The game play is that a player in each turn:
- Draws cards either from the top of the discard pile or from
the top of the stock pile. Cards are placed face up in the discard
pile and face down in the stock pile.
- Under certain conditions a player may "knock", to end the turn
- After discarding or drawing, a player has to discard 1 card on
to the discard pile, but the same card is not allowed which he has
either drawn or discarded.
Play continues, in alternating turns, until one player knocks or
only 2 cards remain in the stock pile. In that case, the hand would
end in a draw.
Players can “Go Out” if they have melded all their cards at once and
declared Rummy. According to game rule, a player can say Rummy only
if has not melded or laid off any cards before declaring the Rummy.
It is a risky play, if the game is played for rummy.
Scoring
When a player “goes out” with no cards in his hand then opponents
cards scores are counted up and summed to the winner’s point.
Generally, according to rummy’s rule, face cards are worth 10, wild
cards count as 20, Aces count as 1 and 2 to 10 cards are worth of
their nominal value. To win the game Rummy, a player has to be very
strategic during the game. This game certainly requires good luck
but also a player need to be strategic.
